KARTIKA COMPLETES COMMUNITY SERVICE SENTENCE TODAY

KUANTAN, April 22 (Bernama) -- Former part-time model Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarnor completed her three-week community service sentence at the Tengku Ampuan Fatimah Children's Home, here today.

Kartika Sari Dewi, 33, was originally sentenced to six strokes of the cane and a fine of RM5,000 for consuming alcohol at a hotel in Cherating on July 11, 2008, but it was reduced with consent from the Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah.

She was seen leaving the children's home at 6.20pm in a Proton Perdana after arriving there for the first time on April 2.

Kartika Sari Dewi was also spotted waving to the media and photographers who gathered at the entrance of the home.

Meanwhile, when contacted, her 62-year-old father Shukarnor Abdul Mutalib said he was grateful that his daughter's sentence had been completed.

"The whole family is thankful for this," he said.

Shukarnor said the family felt more peaceful and hoped they would no longer be hounded by the media, adding that they would pick up Kartika Sari Dewi in Kuala Lumpur.
